Current skincare routine | Morning

I’ve already talked about my current night skin routine here, today I want to talk about my morning routine. As I was saying in the night skincare post your skin needs different products since its functions are a little different depending on the time of the day. On top of cleansing and moisturizing you skin needs protection from sun and pollution during the day. It also needs a little bit of exfoliating to remove dead skin cells so your makeup can last longer and foundation, powder or bronzer will go on smoothly and effortlessly.

I use Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser for my morning routine. In fact I would ONLY (or mostly) use Tata Harper skincare if I could afford it but it’s not exactly in my price range at the moment. How do I put it… It’s AMAZING! I’ve noticed my skin tone became more even after only few times of using it! It was actually one of this wow moments which I wasn’t even expecting. Definitely a keeper! It has a citrusy aroma to it which is amazing for mornings. It wakes you up right away. Although it is exfoliating cleanser with tiny apricot seed powder it is very gentle. The ingredients are nothing but all the last technology skincare ingredients with enzymes (that dissolves blackheads, reducing the look of your pores), salicylic acid (that reduces inflammation and redness) and clay (that detoxifies the skin).

It took Tata Harper five years to create her beauty line starting from scratch. She uses only high-grade non-toxic ingredients in her product line and ingredients grown in her farm in Vermont where her laboratory is also located at. Tata owns the research, development and production process so you can be sure that you get the freshest product possible.

You don’t have to use two different mists/toners/sprays for day and night routine. One will do the job but for me being a skincare junkie it’s a perfect excuse to buy one more. The one I use for night routine is Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut water and I absolutely LOVE it. Farmacy skincare line is a recent find for me. The first product that I bought was Hydrating Coconut Gel mask and I didn’t stop there. Soon after I purchased an eye cream (which gave me another one of those WOW moments – a lot of the WOW moments lately) and my latest purchase is this hydrating mist. Compared to Herbivore mist (that is very flowery and calming) it has fresh energizing and kind of a minty aroma which makes it another perfect product for morning. Starting fresh! I apply it before moisturizing my skin. It protects and soothes the skin while also helping to set the makeup. You can also use it during the day to refresh your makeup and stop oil migration.

Farmacy was created by Mark Veeder (the pioneer plantsman who discovered and patented Echinacea GreenEnvy™ – in one word its a plant that contains the highest known concentration of  the phytochemical Cichoric Acid, a potent natural antioxidant) and Robert Beyfuss (who is a farming expert).

I’ve been using oils in my daily skincare routine for quite some time even before there was such a huge amount of different oil blends available on the market. I’ve used almond oil to remove eye makeup and avocado oil for my blemished skin. Right now oil blends are more sophisticated and lighter and easy for skin to absorb. The prices are higher too but it’s the best investment you’ll ever make.

I was really impressed by all the reviews Herbivore Phoenix Oil Blend had: it had all five stars reviews on their website and zero disappointed customers and 35 reviews on Sephora that praised the product. After reviewing all that I’ve decided to purchase a 0.3 oz roller for $32.95 (with shipping). Let me tell you this – don’t waste your money on it! Get a big one for $88 and you will not regret it. It has a lot of good stuff in it like Rosehip Oil rich in antioxidant omegas 3, 6, and 9, and trans-retinoid acid (that prevents premature aging), Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil – the richest natural source of Beta Carotene available (which is Vitamin A that penetrates deep into the skin and restores it from with in), COQ10 that supports the skin’s natural collagen production, and more. I’ve noticed that my skin became more balanced and my skin tone more even after using Herbivore and Tata Harper but it still needs a little help with maintaining oil production during the day and this Oil-Control Mattifier from Murad is a great product for me. It is regulating oil throughout the day, protecting skin from sun damage while clearing skin from impurities. I apply it in about 30 minutes after face oil, letting the oil to penetrate first. It feels really great, leaving my skin looking matte and it stays matte during the day.

I really enjoy the trend in skincare products where the founders are also the scientists, the researches and developers who prefer to manufacture their products not far from home and keep an eye on all productions processes. The geeks, who know the process inside out and not afraid to take time (5 years for Ms. Harper, 16 years for Mr. Veeder) and deliver the best product possible. I hope this trend is here to stay.
