I’ve always liked early Fall – beautiful red, yellow and orange trees, the smell of burning leaves, colder nights, I even liked rainy days as long as my feet were dry but most of all I liked the new clothes and shoes for school and all new school supplies. Cannot say the same about getting back to school and later college. Being as curious person as I am somewhat I did not particularly enjoy studying, not all the subjects at least. I remember being very excited about astronomy and physics classes but the teacher’s personality killed all that interest pretty soon. I’ve always been passionate about composition though as long as I was given a chance to be creative and write from my heart and not about a boring subject. A passion that later helped me to creative this blog.
So with Fall being upon us I am not quite ready to switch to my Fall wardrobe just yet so are most of you guys I’m guessing. So today I wanted to talk about the summer pieces that still will work for you in Fall – three Summer pieces to keep and three Fall pieces to add.
WHAT TO KEEP
White t-shirt is a modern classic and a year round piece of clothing: you wear it with jean shorts and sandals in summer, with pants and under you blazer in Fall and Spring, and under your sweater in Winter to keep you warm. It’s always on my to-buy list because you can’t really get enough of them plus I have an interesting habit of spilling coffee all over myself and white t-shirts can only take a certain amount of washes to stay so white. I suggest getting few fitted t-shirts and regular fit t-shirts for your wardrobe.
My white Paige jeans are my favorite jeans ever so I’m absolutely not ready to give up its comfort for anything else. I strongly believe that white buttons are not for Summer and Spring only. I think it works very well with coats and jackets and blazers as well. My favorite way to wear it is with oversized sweater though, preferably grey or white. It gives your outfit such freshness and definitely makes you stand out in the crowd for sure. Be bold, wear white for Fall!
Of course sandals and espadrilles are the best choice for hot summers but not all summer days are hot and sunny so I always have few flats ready for me for a rainy or chilly day. My favorite flats are those loafers from Coach. They are super comfortable, in fact the MOST comfortable shoes I’ve owned so far. It’s perfect transitional shoes and it’s perfect for the kind of days when weather cannot decide if it wants to rain or shine. Your best choice would be leather flats since suede flats can get ruined by the rain.
WHAT TO ADD
My favorite time to wear blazers is early Fall and late Spring – it’s not exactly comfortable to wear under a winter coat and for Summer it might be a little too hot (unless it’s a very chilly day). My favorite way to wear it is with sneakers, in a very relaxed way. I totally embrace the athleisure trend and a blazer being worn with sneakers is a nice example. I bought my blazer in early Sping but never really had a chance to wear it since the summer was pretty hot so I’m definitely taking a full advantage of a chillier weather right now.
For a person who doesn’t like to carry a lot of stuff around – big oversized tote is an interesting choice. I don’t know maybe its getting-back-to-school kind of habit or a fact that I like to have extra sweater, scarf or socks with me because I am always cold. I got mine at Banana Republic. I’ve been wanting a very simple big black leather tote for awhile but didn’t have any luck in finding the one that was in my price range and to my taste until now.
I like to have scarf with me during colder seasons just in case it gets chilly – a scarf being wrapped around your neck can make all the difference if you are cold (believe me, I’m an expert in being cold) – a fact that I myself underestimated. Aside from keeping you warm, it can make a statement, add color to your outfit and make your outfit more interesting. I’ve decided to go with grey and white scarf for this outfit to keep it in the same color palette.
